Usually, Netflix has adapted two of Cornwell’s books for every one season of The Last Kingdom. Friends and alliances must unite to free him, and fight once more. Still, all good things must come to an end, and Uhtred is getting on in age in the novels, to the point that it’s starting to become a tad unbelievable he’s still stomping around the English countryside. As he plans his revenge attack, Uhtred is betrayed and ends up on a slave voyage to Iceland. The last entry in the series, Sword of Kings, was released in the Fall of 2019, and I quite enjoyed what felt like a reset for Uhtred son of Uhtred. versions of the novels have been released a month after the UK versions.
At any rate, we still don’t have a US release date, although the Audible version is listed as being available May 28, which seems awfully early but there you go. The title doesn’t give away much either, as the term “war lord” appears often in the novels to describe prominent warriors of the era.
